Miu Miu L'Eau Bleue Eau de Parfum: Review and Images

Okay, I’ll admit it: I wanted to start this beautiful Friday with an entirely different post, with tons of pictures and skincare info and silly Steffi selfies and a GIF of a rollerskating turtle… but then, last night after a day filled with press events and champagne (do you follow me on Instagram?) I made the mistake of opening one of the parcels that had been delivered the day before, and MY ENTIRE PLAN WAS RUINED.

And here’s why: In that parcel, I found the newest incarnation of a still-relatively-new perfume that stole my heart in late 2015. And considering that I’m a weirdo and (while I love discovering new scents) will pretty much wear one out of a hundred perfumes I’m sent to review, that’s a pretty big thing. And that pretty big thing just got a lot prettier… because Miu Miu Eau de Parfum, one of my absolute favourite scents of the past few years, just got a wonderfully fresh flanker!

Just like in the first campaign (and I might even go as far as to guess that these might even be the SAME visuals with a photoshopped new bottle?), actress Stacy Martin is the face of Miu Miu, caught by star photographer Steven Meisel:

Perfumer Daniela Andrier describes her newest Miu Miu creation as «capturing the wonderful feeling when you first realise that spring is here». And not in a «WhooHOOO-miniskirt-self-tanner-party!» kind of way, but with this beautiful, delicate vibe that is so light, that it’s hard to put into words.

So let’s have the press kit and bottle do the talking!

The press materials for the scent are beautifully made, and full of the best kind of quotes that I could never achieve in my wildest, flowery dreams. The feeling the scent (and the beginning of spring) evokes?

«It can surprise you anywhere: in bed, at dawn, when you left the window open, driving on an open road with the sun in your face, on an nightly stroll through the city after a thunderstorm, or early morning, barefoot in the dewy, cold grass.»

I know. I TOLD YOU SO. So now, I’ll try to quash all of my pre-springtime-cold-Swiss-February feelings and declare that for me, Miu Miu’s L’Eau Bleue is an optimistic, delicate and somehow sparkly scent – which manages to remain very feminine, without being too prissy about it. Here’s its buildup:

TOP NOTES: Lily of the valley

HEART NOTES: White florals, morning dew, green notes and a hint of rose

BASE NOTES: Akigalawood® (a earthy, woody and almost peppery accord)

As I said, I’m already a huge fan of the first Miu Miu scent that was launched in the fall of 2015, and wear it multiple times a week, even though the «original» (with an opaque bottle and red dot on the cap) is not typically «me», with its pretty intense flower notes of muguet, wild rose, jasmine and lily of the valley.

As I typically love fresh, sparkly scents, it’s no surprise that I love this zippy re-interpretation even more than the original. And that’s not only because I’m sick of winter and hormonal to boot, hee hee.

And that’s that on my fangirly review. Sorry for raving, but it’s a rare thing for me, so excuse me while I go spritz some more L’Eau Bleue on my skin. And if you live in Zurich, you might catch a whiff of me somewhere around Bahnhofstrasse this weekend!

Miu Miu L’Eau Bleue Eau de Parfum is being launched in Switzerland on February 7th, 2017 for approx. $68.00 (30ml), $90.00 (50 ml) and $118.00 (100ml). In the US, it seems to be a Sephora exclusive!
