MAC Next to Nothing Foundation and Powder: Review by Hey Pretty

Make-up update, hooray! I’m rocking an incredible glow at the moment. All thanks to MAC’s new «Next to Nothing» foundation!

«Sexy, sheer, balmy perfection.» SOUNDS LIKE ME ON AN EVERYDAY BASIS!

So of course it was the only logical thing for me to do: Run to the MAC store in Zurich to check out the new Next to Nothing Face Colour and its matching pressed powder in real life.

«Want an Instagram-ready glow?»

UHM, YEAH.

Valeria Bonutto, make-up artist at Zurich’s MAC store, told me that this new product is not your usual foundation. It’s more of a skin optimizer that gives a wash of color and evens out the complexion.

Next To Nothing Face Colour (9 shades), US$ 31

The Next to Nothing Face Colour comes in nine different shades. Valeria chose the lightest one for me (of course…). The Non Foundation is very lightweight and applies evenly – either with the new Synthetic Face Fan Brush or simply with your fingers.

Due to light-reflecting ingredients, the finish is rather glowy, but not greasy. The coverage is light and therefore requires the use of a concealer for more, uh… problematic areas.

I’m not gonna lie: Valeria used quite a bit of Mineralize Concealer on me *cough*

To set the look, there’s the new super soft pressed powder:

I’m a die hard fan of MAC’s Blot Pressed Powder, which I use daily on my T-zone. But it would be a shame to blot this pretty glow!

The Next to Nothing pressed powder feels very soft and almost creamy. It not only sets the Face Colour, but also blurs the skin even more.

Along with the new glow getters, MAC also launched two new brushes. I really like the smaller one (MAC 141 Synthetic Face Fan Brush), because it’s great for the new (non-) foundation and also for precise powder application!

Valeria also used a deeper shade of the pressed powder to accentuate my cheekbones. Because I already had some crazy eyeliner going on (a bit out of control, I know), she applied this bright and super pretty new lipstick called Dynasty Red from the Ms. Min collection, which I also instantly fell in love with.

Having my make-up done and looking flawless OF COURSE I had to go out and show off. HA, JUST KIDDING. But I was incredibly well-styled for the gardening session on our rooftop.

Thank you, lovely Valeria (you can find her on Instagram @vivibonutto) for the lesson and my flawless skin!

The Next to Nothing Face Colour is a nice addition to the existing MAC foundation range and a much-needed break from heavily made-up and overly contoured faces, which drive me absolutely CRAZY on Instagram and I can’t stand to see for second longer.

Did I just say that out loud?

Just a small user update in closing: The Next to Nothing Face Colour doesn’t seem to work very well with certain primers. Apparently it can roll on the skin if you use silicone based primers underneath.

Having said that: Used together with MAC Prep + Prime Fix it worked beautifully and had a smooth, lovely finish and touch.

And that was our Next to Nothing review for today. Hope you liked it!

The Next To Nothing Face Colour is available in nine shades for US$ 31, the Pressed Powder (also available in nine shades) for US$27 at all MAC counters as well as online.
