Clinique Fresh Pressed Skincare: Review by Hey Pretty Beauty Blog

How has your week been so far, darling? Don’t you just love these sunny days? I’m really getting into a springtime mood, and so is my skin! That may have to do with Clinique’s recent blogger event at Joe & the Juice in Zurich. We were invited to have a look at their new energy boosting skincare products that claim to be «De-aging for the impatient».

But before diving into the details, let’s have a look at some behind the scenes pics, shall we?

Now look at me being all focussed and professional while preparing some fresh juice…

Of course, the juice theme was totally suitable for this event, because we all know that juice (like vitamin C) has to be used as fresh as possible! As it quickly loses its potency, vitamin C is a somewhat difficult substance to use in skincare, but it’s also extremely effective. Our bodies are not designed to store Vitamin C and that’s why we have to put it on our skin to boost our connective tissue and the production of collagen.

To solve this problem, Clinique just put these little clever products on the market:

Clinique Fresh Pressed Daily Booster with Pure Vitamin C 10% (4 tubes à 8.5ml), around US$ 99

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

The «Fresh Pressed Daily Booster» is a targeted treatment, and is meant be used only for a limited time. And oh boy, it’s effective! It contains – of course – vitamin c, but also molasses (which lightens discoloration and freckles), anti-oxidants and extracts of mulberry, helm herb and grapefruit… plus salicylic acid, which gets rid of dead skin cells.

To make it super-smooth upon applying to the skin, there are ingredients such as sucrose, algae extract and caffeine, which protect and help the skin to do it’s thing. It’s best used for the duration of a month, but also shows effects after only one week. Your skin should be obviously revitalized, but even more so after finishing the «Fresh Pressed Daily Booster» treatment. AND it’s suitable for every skin type, even for sensitive ones… which I think is really awesome!

HOW TO USE IT:

Because vitamin C loses its power as soon as it gets in touch with oxygen, Clinique created an entirely new packaging system which makes sure the serum is only activated when it’s being actually going to be used:

Before applying to your face, you peel off the foil on the lower part of the tube, but not the cap. Then, you press the button on top of the tube twice. After that, shake it for about 15 seconds to make sure everything is mixed. Now it’s ready to be used and should last about 7 days.

Ideally, you apply it on to clean skin – two drops are enough. You can also mix (two drops) right into your day or night cream.

Additional to the «Fresh Pressed Daily Booster», there’s also a special cleanser which intensifies the efficiency and refreshes the skin:

Clinique Fresh Pressed Renewing Powder Cleanser with Pure Vitamin C (28 sachets à 14 g), around US$ 37

This cleanser is actually a powder and contains kaolin, which absorbs excess oil, and also salicylic acid for a gentle peel. It’s to be used once a day (best in the morning, in my opinion):

You pour a sachet’s content into your wet palms and foam up. Then gently massage your face with it and let it sit for a minute – then rinse with warm water.

HEY PRETTY’S CONCLUSION:

Both of these new Clinique products are right up my alley. Lately, my skin has been looking a bit dull and tired, so I was really excited to try them. I’ve been using the boosters for a week and the effects are visible. After 12 weeks of use, wrinkles and lines should be reduced by 43 %, so I’m looking forward to that, needless to say!

I really like to use the booster in combination with the powder cleanser. If feels refreshing and could easily be my new daily peel.

All in all: a really cool launch! I have high hopes for this treatment and can’t wait to see the results. In the meantime, I’ll just get a juice and flirt with the guys behind the counter. I don’t care if they’re getting paid to do it!

Have a great and super fresh rest of the week!
