Time for another edition of «Brand Love» here at Hey Pretty! Today, we’re having a look at the beautiful and clean skincare brand from Budapest, which has won dozens of prizes all around the world. Omorovicza products aren’t only really nice to look at, they’re also very well formulated and therefore very effective.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT OMOROVICZA:
First of all, maybe the pronunciation: It’s «Omoro-vitz-aa». I’m always terribly embarrassed when I find out I have mispronounced something! And let me tell you, sometimes it’s hard to get everything right, especially in the beauty world. So that’s why I’m here to help you out with this one.
Because MAYBE, you’re going to Budapest soon and when you’re there you can go to the Omorovicza Flagship Store and show off! I would if I were you.
But let’s go back to the brand: Omorovicza was founded 12 years ago, in the middle of Budapest. The founders are a very handsome aristocrat called Stephen de Heinrich de Omorovicza and his stunning wife, former US diplomat Margaret.
Fun fact: There are over 1000 thermal springs in Hungary, and over 100 in Budapest alone!
So it’s not a surprise that Stephen took Margaret to his family’s own thermal spring on their first date… and as we know, it worked!
They fell in love, eventually got married and decided to launch a beauty business together. The idea behind their products was, to recreate the effect that a bath in thermal water has on the skin.
Since neither Stephen nor Margaret had a backround in chemistry, they approached a dermatologist who helped them develop the now patented «Hydro Mineral Transference»-system, which allows the minerals from the thermal water to not only stay on top of the skin, but to sink into the epidermis.
All Omorovicza products contain this magic mineral formula – but are made without parabens, silicones, petrochemicals, sulfates as well as artificial colors and scents.
Since launching their brand in 2006, Stephen and Margaret not only had four children, but also developped dozens of products. Omorovicza is now very well known all over the world for luxurious, natural and effective skincare.
Now let’s have a look at the products! I’ve been sent three products, which all have very good reviews online:
Omorovicza Midnight Radiance Mask, 50ml, around USD 130
This is a very interesting formula! It’s a gel mask, which is applied in the evening and worn over night. It hydrates, brightens and unclogs pores. Main ingredients are salicylic acid, sand lily, red algea and copper gluconate, which helps with oily skin.
This mask is not only very efficient, but also gentle on the skin. I can imagine that men would also like this one a lot, since it’s so light!
Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm, 50ml, around USD 75
This one ist Omorovicza’s best selling product. And with good reason! Make-up Artists love it since it removes everything, even waterproof mascara. All without drying the skin!
Our favourite beauty guru Caroline Hirons says: «It feels almost too good to use on a first cleanse.»
The black color comes from Hungarian moor mud, which is very rich in minerals, the creamy texture from almond oil, which is rich in vitamin E. Plus, the Cleansing Balm is scented with orange blossom!
A very sexy, kind of «rich-kid» product is this body oil…
Omorovicza Gold Shimmer Oil (100ml), around USD 80
I’m normally not a fan of shimmery body products, but I like this one! The real gold particles are not only pretty to look at, but have anti-inflammatory purposes. And the scent is heavenly!
According to the website, the exotic fragrance comes from ylang-ylang. But it’s rather subtle and also has hints of vanilla, if you ask me. Heavenly, as I said!
HEY PRETTY’S CONCLUSION:
Of course, the brand is not very affordable. But all the Omorovicza products I have tested (the ones I discussed in this post as well as the rich Gold Emulsion Cream and the lovely Queen of Hungary Mist) are extraordinarily beautiful to use. They all have that luxurious «treat-yourself»-feel to them.
Stephen and Margaret de Heinrich de Omorovicza are still fully in charge of the brand and have never made ads for their products: If word-of-mouth works that well, why should you?
I like that they know their audience. Stephen recently said in an interview with The Observer: «When I speak with our customers, they often give me a run for my money in terms of knowledge about our ingredients».
If you would like to discover the brand and test some products, head over to Spitzenhaus in Zurich, who are exclusive resellers.
And with this dose of aristocratic luxury, I wish you all a happy day!
P.S.: If you’d like to see Stephen and Margaret «in action» here is a YouTube-video of them getting ready for a date night!
