Before we have a look at this romantic nail polish collection, let me tell you a TruSteffiStory™. Make sure you have enough tissues ready.
It was about 1981 when little eight-year-old Steffi FINALLY was allowed to join a ballet class with her sister. Once a week, we danced around for our fairly old and grumpy teacher called Janice Lee, who gave the beat with a heavy cane and kept screaming: «Jett-TAAAYYY! Pli-AAYYYY». I jetée-ed and pliée-ed with a passion and was convinced that nothing could stop me from becoming a Prima Ballerina and that I might soon be ready to get some toe shoes.
But of course this story took a sad turn… after a couple of months, Miss Lee gently but firmly told my mum, that her daughter (me) was indeed musical, but not physically made to be a ballerina. Meaning: I WAS TOO FAT FOR BALLET.
I KNOW, OPRAH!
My older, super-skinny sister Franzie pursued ballet and performed a few months later in her own tutu (!) while I had to sit in the audience. Of course, I dreamt of her dramatically falling off the stage, which didn’t help my adolescent karma at all.
Why am I telling you all this? Because I received my FIRST pair of pointe shoes along with the new Essie Ballet Nudes Collection. TAKE THAT, JANICE LEE!
You may now wipe the tears off your eyes and have a look at some nail polishes.
Essie Gel Couture Ballet Nudes Collection (six colors), around 16 US$
I just LOVE these toe shoes! Here are the six colours:
Satin Slipper, a creamy ivory
Lace Me Up, a dusty pink
Hold The Position, a soft corally pink
At The Barre, a cinamonny nude (click here for my Instagram swatch)
Perfect Posture, a powdery blue
Closing Night, a soft and shimmery blueish grey
Of course I opted for the more colorful one to swatch and I really love Closing Night!
I really love the formulation of Essie’s Gel Couture Line, but I wrote that already.
Almost all of the big brands recently came out with a no lamp-gel nail polish formula, but I have to admit that I’m not really sure if they do last longer. But I know that the Essie Gel Couture Top Coat is truly amazing and I use it all the time (even on top of other-brand nail polishes…).
The «Ballet Nudes» collection is extremely wearable and also suitable for pale skin (like mine). Well done!
And now I’m going to put on my pointe shoes, because BIG DREAMS NEVER DIE, Miss Lee!
Have a happy weekend and think of me when you go dancing!
The limited Essie Gel Couture Ballet Nudes-Kollektion is available until end of February 2017 at all Essie sales points in Switzerland, such as Douglas and Manor.
