Happy Monday, dear reader! I hope you had a lovely weekend… here in Zurich, it was really rainy and cold. But I’m just glad it didn’t snow. And YES, that is a distinct possibility here in spring. Which is why today’s blog entry is perfectly timed, because there’s going to be a whole lot of pink flowers… and some really nice skincare treats from France!
Caudalie, the skincare brand that has its own vineyard and spa in Bordeaux, has a couple of new launches in their Vinosource line, and recently invited us beauty bloggers and editors to a beautifully orchestrated launch event here in Zurich. Come join me!
I told you it would be pink! The beautiful and smart Mathilde Thomas (who has a pretty fab Instagram account) and her husband Bertrand founded Caudalie over 20 years ago, after discovering that the vines and grapes that they produced on their family vineyard in Bordeaux were chock-full of amazing skincare ingredients.
With a bit of help, they developed and patented Resveratrol, a high-performance natural ingredient the grapevine uses to defend itself against predators.
Shortly after, they also discovered that their land in France has its very own hot spring, and opened their first Vinothérapie Spa, which is pretty much at the top of my Spa bucket list, because… BEAUTIFUL:
Sorry for that. We’ll go together soon, okay? In any case, they continue to innovate natural, but very effective skincare, and now we can finally focus on Caudalie’s newest additions to their range for Spring 2016!
Starting off, we have a limited edition travel-sized version of their bestselling organic facial spray:
Caudalie Grape Water (75ml), limited Edition, US$ 13.00
This refreshing, deeply hydrating facial mist is enriched with moisturising polysaccharides and mineral salts – and is made with 100% organic Grape Water. What I love about it, is that you can just spray it over your made-up face, no need to blot. It’s fragrance free, and can be used even on sensitive skin.
In addition, there are four brand new moisturisers available in their Vinosource line, in a special (and specially priced!) new size that they’re hoping will be a perfect «gateway» product for consumers who are new to the brand. I’ll admit, I don’t find Caudalie that high-priced anyway… but I AM a beauty editor and am somewhat biased, LOL.
Anyway, here they are:
Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet (40ml), US$ 39.00
In clinical tests, this cooling gel moisturizer reduced redness by up to 70%! The lightweight texture is pretty cool, and it’s supposed to «reactivate skin’s hydration mechanisms to restore moisture balance». It’s non-comedogenic and works for all skin types.
If your skin is slightly oily (like mine always is when AND IF the weather gets warmer!), you might prefer this one:
Vinosource Moisturizing Mattifying Fluid (40ml), US$ 39.00
All the Vinosource benefits and deeply hydrating, but with added «instant» mattifying effect and long-lasting oil control. I’m going to try this baby in the summer!
If you prefer somewhat richer textures:
Vinosource Moisture Recovery Cream (40ml), US$ 39.00
This rich, almost velvety cream is perfect for dry skin in need of hydration… stat! Grape oil helps replenish the skin and restores the hydrolipidic layer, while strengthening the skin’s natural moisture barrier. I really like the texture!
And yes, Caudalie even has a new formula up its sleeve for really, REALLY dehydrated skin:
Vinosource Intense Moisture Rescue Cream (40ml), US$ 39.00
Okay, so maybe you don’t regularly expose your poor skin to extreme weather conditions (but hey, there must be some extremely outdoorsy types reading this!), but if your skin is truly in need of a «moisture intervention», then this is for you! The ultra-rich cream immediately envelopes the skin to deeply nourish and soothe it instantly. They’re touting it as «the ultimate rescue remedy» that should restore, comfort and heal skin, no matter what your skin type.
I’d say: Emergencies only, but hey: Sometimes you just need that extra EXTRA dose of moisture!
So now, we’ve pretty much covered your hydration needs for today. All in all, I really like Caudalie and their products – and am currently doing a trial of their Vinoperfect brightening line, to finally do something about my
raging freckles OKAY uneven skin pigmentation… I’ll keep you posted on that!
For now, some lovely spring flowers and hope to meet you back here soon!
